After an ingenious spotting of a "diplomats/UN" line at immigration, and proving to the dude that I was indeed starting a job with the UN tomorrow, I sped through to the baggage claim area and only had to wait about 40 minutes for my backpack! My driver was there waiting for me (I was a bit disappointed he wasn't holding up a sign that said Karen Shahine, which is what he thought my name was!) and as we walked out of the terminal into the warm afternoon sun, the air smelled so sweet.
We sped through the absolutely mad streets, where red lights don't seem to mean anything, and here I am, safely ensconced in my hotel. The exploring will have to wait till tomorrow afternoon, I'm absolutely exhausted!!
