There was a faint taste of salt in the air as I strolled along the promenade, watching people jumping off a pontoon or sunning themselves. I spotted an arch advertising a cafe, but it looked a bit ostentatious so I kept walking.
As I stopped to watch a luxury yacht skim across the water, I noticed some discreet steps leading down, and spotted some tables. I looked a bit closer and could make out what looked to be a casual little cafe and thought I'd give it a go. There weren't many tables left, but I managed to get the last one by the water.
I regretted not bringing my book, but settled for a coke and simply listening to the small waves, and watching the other patrons: old ladies sharing a shisha; young guys gesticulating widely. The luxury boat came back again, along with a jetski and it made me so excited about the summer that's left.
